This workshop will address the following issues, allowing for delegates to better understand the parameters to balance their aerial platform technologies.

  • Appreciation of the changing warfare and operational environment: Conventional to unconventional
  • Understanding and evaluating the platforms role and mission domain of air strike and support in changed warfare and environment
  • Analysis of the platform technology status and the capabilities it offers
  • Optimising the appropriate mix of the platform technologies for delivering the required operational capabilities in future.

12:30 - 15:30 Workshop B: Understanding the Changing Concepts of Maritime Air Operations in Peace and War

This workshop will examine the contours and related issues of application of maritime air power in the changing dynamic context of challenges in the maritime arena both during peace and war. Participants will learn:

  • Options for planning and shaping the structure for maritime air assets
  • How best to counter act terrorist activities and maritime piracy using air assets
  • How to effectively use long range heavy shore based aircraft operating from ashore
  • The use of integral UAVs and helicopters
